How to cancel Ancestry

How to cancel Ancestry: Sign in to your account at ancestry.com/account. Official path: signed-in account on the brand site. Cancel at least 2 business days before the renewal date and save the confirmation number — if you have no confirmation email, you are not cancelled; memberships bought in the app must be cancelled through Apple, Google, or Amazon instead.

Official steps

  1. Sign in to your account at ancestry.com/account.
  2. In the Membership section, find the membership (or trial) you want to cancel.
  3. Click "Cancel membership" (or "Cancel trial").
  4. Follow the on-screen steps, declining any pause or retention offers presented.
  5. Continue until a cancellation confirmation number is displayed.
  6. Check your inbox for a cancellation confirmation email from Ancestry (or your billing provider) — without it, the membership is likely not cancelled.

Do I need an account?

Cancelling requires signing into the personal Ancestry account and clicking through a retention/pause flow to reach a confirmation number.

Window, fees & policy notes
